‘Hani’ Women’s Headdress (South East Asia)

The decorative headdress of the Hani or Akha people are decorated by their owner and each is unique. Silver coins, monkey fur, and dyed chicken feathers are just a few of the things that might decorate the headdress.

Chinese Officials Hat – Winter

The Chinese Officials Winter Hat is comprised of a skull cap with an upturned brim, usually made of red, yellow and black silks, with insignias stitched in to the design. These hats are topped with knobs of different materials, signifying an Officials rank.

Chinese Silk Cap

The Chinese Silk Cap is a small round cap, made up of colourful panels of silk stitched together. These caps will often have gold dragons or other traditional Chinese decorative patterns, as well as a long braided plait leading from under the cap.

  • Egyptian/ Middle Eastern Doumbek (Goblet Drum)

    The goblet drum is a single head membranophone with a goblet shaped body used mostly in the Egypt, Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and Eastern Europe. The goblet drum may be played while held under one arm (usually the non-dominant arm) or by placing it sideways upon the lap (with the head towards the player’s knees) while seated.
